Atrium House

Type: Summerhouse |  Year: 2021 - |  Location: Thy, Denmark | Status: Ongoing

In collaboration with Tegnestuen Lokal.

The summerhouse reinterprets the historical atrium typology from the surrounding locals farms, working with a central outdoor space sheltered from hard winds and sandstorms alongside the west coast of Jutland. A tilted roof unifies three built volumes, all oriented towards the common atrium space.

The iconic landscape, with its dramatic and pure colour scheme functions as a reference for the materiality of the building. Dusty sand notes and deep green sea nuances meet smaller touches of dark heather and burned wetland reds. A blanket of brick will shape a wavy base melting together with the changing landscape of grasses, dunes and low pines, while selected colours are used for the interior palette.
